Marriage Waters

Marriage Waters Something Borrowed

Have you ever thought about getting married on a boat, out on the open waters? Sailing has a way of getting under your skin unlike any other sport, and at such short notice! The technical difficulties of owning or operating a boat never stopped parents or pet owners, so why not incorporate it into other high-maintenance events. Like a boat wedding, perhaps? Choosing a boat as your wedding venue brings some charm to your special day that you could not find anywhere else, except perhaps in a cave wedding, or a forest wedding. It all depends on your aesthetic preferences, and each is lovelier than the other. Still, a day in the sun and salty air, waves caressing the wedding… Read More →

Thinking about a Tropical Destination Wedding?

Tropical Destination Weddings

Recently, bride to be Natalie contacted me and was admidst planning her own wedding. Today, Nat brings you her wisdom from all her research into tropical destination weddings! As a bride to be I have always dreamed of a destination wedding, the change of scenery, the ambiance that you get when people are on holiday all contribute to a magical event that nobody will ever forget. Destination weddings are becoming more popular each year.  With so many people putting off marriage until well into their 20’s or 30’s, destination weddings make sense.  After all, by this time, people have likely enjoyed traveling for work, pleasure or both.  If not, a destination wedding is the perfect opportunity to start exploring the… Read More →

I’ve always been such a fan of little special touches from the bride and groom in the form of DIY. I found this on Pinterest and was photographed by the beautiful Kortni Marie Photography in the USA. Definitely some inspiration for some wedding DIY! What better sentiment of a newly wedded bride and groom than “I choose you, this day and every day”… What’s your favourite DIY element from a wedding you’ve seen or been to? Venue Space Preview: Eureka89

Eureka89 Venue space

There’s no denying the Melbourne skyline…it’s beautiful; and from 89 floors up, it’s spectacular! You may not realise – ‘cos I certainly didn’t – that the Eureka tower has a venue space tucked away on Level 89, which is the highest floor of the Southern Hemisphere’s tallest residential building. Sensational views for your wedding reception! I feel privileged to have been included in a small group of talented wedding bloggers/florists/wedding planners and magazine editors, with only about 15 of us in total attending a beautiful luncheon put on by the space today. We were treated to entrees, a tour of the venue, delicious mains and too tasty desserts! I was so humbled to meet some beautiful ladies behind Real Weddings… Read More →

Real Wedding: Kath & Bala

Corey Sleap Photo

I recently came across this beautiful wedding from Corey Sleap in Melbourne, and was instantly obsessed and wanted to see more! The photographs certainly bring the stunning wedding to life, and with a dancing-down-the-aisle wedding party, you can be sure that was hard to capture each moment! What truly comes through in these photos, are the love these two have for one another. The adoring gazes and happiness shine through in these images, with photographer Corey Sleap admitting that Kath and Bala’s wedding was a bit of a tear jerker, “one of those weddings where I find myself using the camera as a tear hiding mask”. For the full photographs of this stunning wedding, head over to Corey’s site. Location… Read More →

ASOS: Wedding Accessories Guide

Asos Guest Post

I love a guest post at Something Borrowed, so was super excited that ASOS Australia wanted to give their tips on wedding accessories for this season! With wedding season fast approaching, at ASOS we have decided to put together a guide that points brides in a good direction when it comes to wedding accessories. This is considered mission impossible for many brides, whether to go simple and safe, or make a statement and take a risk. The most important rule to abide by is choose accessories that work harmoniously with the dress. Think elegant and chic; less is more applies for the best wedding look no matter what the circumstances. Earrings and Necklace Your earrings and necklace very much play… Read More →

Neutral Bridesmaid Dresses

Neutral bridesmaid feature

Pinterest certainly helps you find some beautiful content sometimes… and I recently came across this beautiful gaggle of women and the most perfectly stunning barn wedding from last year via Wedding Chicks. Does 4 women constitute a “gaggle”? I’m sticking to it… I loved the overall styling of this wedding once I saw the feature! But what really drew me in was the beautiful simplicity of the bride and her ‘maids look. It’s such a fresh spin on vintage, and captured so wonderfully via Debra Eby, you felt a connection as you move through these photographs. Beautifully ensembled neutral bridesmaid dresses! Bridesmaid dresses were via Etsy, designer River of Romansk. Full wedding feature at Wedding Chicks. Featured photo courtesy of… Read More →

Designer Spotlight: Sarah Seven

I am completely obsessed with Sarah Seven…her collections are flawless! A boutique American designer, there are a few places we can find her treasures in Australia, but they are few and far between! Hopefully one day there will be a flagship store in Australia from this beauty! A few sneak peek snaps of the newest collection, all the way from the USA. Credit to Matthew Moore for the photography. I am absolutely loving the notion of a gold wedding dress, what do you think?!
