Stewart Leishman capturing my heart

It’s been pretty quiet on the wedding attendance front for this gal, but that’s not to say that I haven’t seen some wonderful moments captured on a couple’s special day. It’s no secret that Stewart Leishman is my favourite Melbourne photographer, and I’m always in awe of the images he posts. This Sunday post goes to him, capturing a gorgeous couple married at Circa in St Kilda, Melbourne (featured image). Thankyou for continuing to inspire me from afar. The moments you capture are some genuine and unique, and your bride & grooms are lucky to have you document their special moments. I love the composition of this bride & groom in Albert Park looking over the beautiful Melbourne city.  … Read More →

Real Wedding: Naomi & Tom

Naturalight Photography

I love seeing beautiful Melbourne weddings, and this one was no exception! I was thrilled when Amber from Naturalight Photography sent this one over for me. Set in St Kilda on a beautiful April day, with the reception at the picturesque Riva on the water. I absolutely love Naomi’s gown from the talented Luci DiBella and the stunning tangerine maxi bridesmaid dresses. What I love most about the series of photographs is Amber’s ability to capture the moments, as well as the change in locations across iconic Melbourne. Enjoy! Engagement Shoot: Steph + Kale by Ben Yew

Ben Yew Photography - Engagement shoot

My favourite guest blogger is back in town, and she’s sharing one of the most divine engagement shoots you’ll see this year! Amazingness from Ben Yew! Once upon a time my friend Kale met a tiny blonde bombshell who made up for her  (lack of) hight with an enormous personality and a huge heart. Her name was Stephanie and he was smitten. (I was also smitten, the girl is hilarious.) Both originally from Perth, the two now live in Geraldton – a rural hub on WA’s central coast. Kale, 27, met his primary school teaching bride-to-be six years ago through mutual friends. Last year he popped the question on bended knee at a pre-arranged photo shoot in Perth with the couple’s much-loved… Read More →

Real Wedding: Kath & Bala

Corey Sleap Photo

I recently came across this beautiful wedding from Corey Sleap in Melbourne, and was instantly obsessed and wanted to see more! The photographs certainly bring the stunning wedding to life, and with a dancing-down-the-aisle wedding party, you can be sure that was hard to capture each moment! What truly comes through in these photos, are the love these two have for one another. The adoring gazes and happiness shine through in these images, with photographer Corey Sleap admitting that Kath and Bala’s wedding was a bit of a tear jerker, “one of those weddings where I find myself using the camera as a tear hiding mask”. For the full photographs of this stunning wedding, head over to Corey’s site. Location… Read More →

Photography: What to know about the actual day

Jerome Cole

I recently caught up with the uber talented Jerome Cole, who shared his wisdom of what to look out for on the day of your wedding when it comes to photography. Jerome is one seriously great photographer, and even nicer guy! Definitely someone you want shooting your wedding. When it comes to choosing a photographer, one of the things that sometimes get overlooked is the chemistry between the photographer and the couple.  You spend the whole day with your photographer, so you have to get along with them! Jerome is quick to note that you need to find a photographer that you instantly ‘click’ with, and can imagine spending that day with. Make sure to look carefully at each photographer’s… Read More →

Choosing your photographer

Sorrento Weddings: Choosing your photographer

Rather than creating a big ‘to do’ list that can be quite overwhleming, we recommend breaking things down into the areas that are top priorities: the invitations and stationery, the cake, your ceremony & reception, your dress & your ‘maids dress, flowers and of course, the photography. Your big day will live with you for the rest of your married life, so why not make sure the images reflect your happy day? Finding the right photographer is paramount, and can be a stressful task! We spoke to the very talented Shannon Pawsey, owner of Sorrento Wedding Photography, whom has been featured a number of times on Something Borrowed. Shannon has some great tips on choosing a photographer and gives us… Read More →

Wedding Day Guest Photo Ideas

Wedding Day Guest Photo Ideas

I love the idea of wedding guests getting involved at the wedding. Photo booths have been a long popular way of capturing the moment visually and a take-home for the guest. One idea that I definitely hope to have at my own wedding! It’s such a nice way for guests to mingle and engage with each other, plus you get all the photos instantly! I came across a few great ideas recently, and this one from Style Me Pretty is my fave. Easy to hang up in an area of your choice, and a momento with the date specifics that looks like a polaroid. Love it! This one I found via Pinterest and don’t have an original source, but I… Read More →
