Stewart Leishman capturing my heart

It’s been pretty quiet on the wedding attendance front for this gal, but that’s not to say that I haven’t seen some wonderful moments captured on a couple’s special day. It’s no secret that Stewart Leishman is my favourite Melbourne photographer, and I’m always in awe of the images he posts. This Sunday post goes to him, capturing a gorgeous couple married at Circa in St Kilda, Melbourne (featured image). Thankyou for continuing to inspire me from afar. The moments you capture are some genuine and unique, and your bride & grooms are lucky to have you document their special moments. I love the composition of this bride & groom in Albert Park looking over the beautiful Melbourne city.  … Read More →

twobirds bridesmaid giveway

One dress, over 15 ways to wrap! It’s never easy to find the perfect bridesmaid dresses, and Ariane from twobirds Bridesmaid felt exactly the same way. Seeking out a better alternative to spending money on bridesmaid dresses that stayed in the closet, in planning her own wedding founder Ariane wanted to create a versatile solution for her best friends. Her Australian partner Vanessa echoes the sentiment, and knew that the Australian market was going to love the concept, and hence, teamed up with the New Yorker to bring us twobirds. Ariane says she “worked with a pattern maker, got some fabric, and was inspired by the Norma Kamali infinity dress. The positive response I got from my wedding inspired me to quit… Read More →

The French Gumboot Chef

The French Gumboot Chef

I recently celebrated a milestone birthday, and was surprised and spoiled by my other half! To kick off my birthday celebrations, he surprised me with a private dining experience with incredible chef Antoine Cheron, also known as “The French Gumboot Chef”. Little did I know, that Antoine had cooked with the likes of Jamie Oliver and Heston Blumethal, and cooked for Princess Diana throughout his career. Driving with no knowledge of where we were headed, we parked in a tiny carpark in the town of Warburton, and wandered into a little cafe. There was a little sign saying “private function” toward the back of the cafe, and as we entered the room I was met with a beautifully set table… Read More →

Marriage Waters

Marriage Waters Something Borrowed

Have you ever thought about getting married on a boat, out on the open waters? Sailing has a way of getting under your skin unlike any other sport, and at such short notice! The technical difficulties of owning or operating a boat never stopped parents or pet owners, so why not incorporate it into other high-maintenance events. Like a boat wedding, perhaps? Choosing a boat as your wedding venue brings some charm to your special day that you could not find anywhere else, except perhaps in a cave wedding, or a forest wedding. It all depends on your aesthetic preferences, and each is lovelier than the other. Still, a day in the sun and salty air, waves caressing the wedding… Read More →

Recently, bride to be Natalie contacted me and was admidst planning her own wedding. Today, Nat brings you her wisdom from all her research into tropical destination weddings! Real Wedding: Renee & Stuart

Renee and Stuart: Pier 10 Feature

A gorgeous wedding by the talented Amber from Naturalight Photography. I always love sharing weddings from such wonderful photographers, and even more so when the weddings take place on the Mornington Peninsula, where I grew up. Particularly when looking at winery venues on the Peninsula, it’s hard to envisage what your big day will look like there, so it’s great to see a reference. And seriously, what better way to end your big night than with an array of colourful fireworks to celebrate the happy couple?! Love it!
