SheSays, the international networking and mentoring group for women in advertising, marketing and media, launched to a wonderful group of senior women at Mon Bijou on Thursday 18th October. SheSays new Melbourne arm joins existing networks in New York, London, LA, Singapore and Sydney, and hopes to support women in the marketing industry through networking, mentoring, education and collaboration.

I was lucky enough to be a part of the founding committee with the talented Kara Jenkins and Jane Hutton. We were also lucky enough that we could hold the launch event in such a beautiful location as “Mon Bijou” above the Adelphi Hotel in Melbourne.

Finding a place that we felt as passionate about as the launch of SheSays Melbourne was a tough gig, but as soon as we met with Daniela at Mon Bijou, we knew it was the perfect place. Daniela was so accommodating and so helpful in our planning process.

On the night we heard from our guest speakers, Nicole Avery, who is one of Australia’s top parenting bloggers (and one of my personal blogging role models and inspiration) with her blog Planning with Kids, as well as Kristen Boschma, head of digital social media at Haystac, on her inspirations and mentors, as well as the project she co-created called Blog for Good. The food was absolutely delicious, with excellent and attentive staff, topped with divine Bellini’s on arrival for guests!

Mon Bijou penthouse is simply beautiful. Comprising two levels, an exclusive private room and a covered outdoor area, the lavishly decorated venue is the perfect place for your engagement party or cocktail wedding. The views of Melbourne CBD are exquisite, with nightfall a true treat. As you step out from the elevator, the floor-to-ceiling windows make the space just light up and exudes style.

Whether you choose to use both levels or not is up to you, and entirely depends on how many guests you would like to have. The main level (level 10) would hold approx 100-110 for a stand up, and the top level (level 11) would be about 60-70 people comfortably. Utilising the upstairs area for things such as a Photo Booth or dance floor are a great idea, and allow you extra space for loved ones.

Mon Bijou have recently held a cocktail wedding that is a bit ‘rock n roll’ in style, and perfect for the lavish interior of Mon Bijou.
