I am so pumped to introduce Kate Piasecka to you! A beautiful friend of mine, who also happens to be one of the most talented writers I know! Stay tuned for her book kids, it’ll be worth it! Kate went to the Collette Dinnigan opening in Armadale this week, and offers us her take on the evening!
I don’t know about you, but when I was small all I wanted to be was a dancer. A ballerina to be specific. I didn’t quite realise that dream but I still adore being swept up in the frou-frou and the fantasy that is ballet.
Last night I was lucky enough to attend the official opening of iconic Australian Designer Collette Dinnigan’s new store on High Street in Armadale. The event was timed to coincide with the launch of the collaboration between Collette and the Australian Ballet – a collection of little girls’ tutus and dancewares designed exclusively for Target.
The collection went on sale today. As if I haven’t already bought an outfit for my two year old, yes please!
Now I must make mention of the store itself. Nestled between a coffee shop and a balloon store, Collette Dinnigan’s new High Street home plays host to her SS12/13 resort collection, a bridal collection and a small selection of the Australian Ballet for Target range. The store is gorgeous and luxurious and even has a ballet bar. The windows were dressed with ornate tutus and beautiful flowers, it was everything I expected it to be.
Oh, and I got to meet Collette Dinnigan.
Oh yes I did!
I wrote an essay about her last year, the woman is a legend! (Stay cool, Kate, stay cool.) What a woman! She really is as striking as she is in her photos but most impressively, she just had a baby. Two weeks ago. Wowzer.
Last night my colleague Emma and I were discussing the bridal collection. It really is so beautiful but we both agreed you would have to be an extraordinary woman to pull off a Collette. Her choices are so bold, in a gypsy-free spirited like way. We can all dream! The standout bridal gown for me was a floor length piece with a heavily detailed deep v-necked bodice. I could imagine myself…I mean a blushing bride (ahem)…. wearing it to a garden party themed wedding with soft brushed out curls and a beautiful veil.
You can find the new Collette Dinnigan store at 1015 High Street in Armadale. High Street is such a pretty location with so many amazing new stores opening – you have to go and have a peep.
By the way I’m Kate, nice to meet you. I’m not engaged or married but I’m obsessed with weddings so let’s keep this little ‘me writing for a wedding blog’ business between us. My boyfriend has told me that every time someone asks him when he is proposing to me, he adds on six months. So at this rate, I’ll be married when I’m 80. Brilliant, thank you!
